Questions, Answered
This page covers the core questions legal professionals may have about The AI Bar, including who it is for, what the modules cover, and how the platform approaches AI use in practice.
About The AI Bar
What is The AI Bar?
The AI Bar is a legal education platform that teaches lawyers, law students, and law firms how to use AI in legal practice. Every module is practical, jurisdiction-aware, and built around how legal work is actually done.
Who built The AI Bar?
The AI Bar was built by practising lawyers. Not technologists, not academics, and not AI vendors with a product to sell. Everything published here comes from within legal practice.
Is The AI Bar affiliated with any AI company or tool?
No. The AI Bar has no commercial relationship with any AI platform or vendor. Recommendations reflect editorial judgment only.
Who It Is For
I am not tech-savvy. Is this still for me?
Yes. No technical background is required. If you can use a search engine, you can follow every module on this platform. The AI Bar was specifically built for lawyers who have no interest in how AI works under the hood — only in what it can do for their practice.
I am a law student, not yet in practice. Is this relevant to me?
Absolutely. You are entering a profession being reshaped by AI in real time. Understanding how to use these tools and how to use them responsibly is now part of what it means to be practice-ready.
My firm already has an AI tool. Do I still need this?
Having access to an AI tool and knowing how to use it well in a legal context are two different things. The AI Bar teaches the second — how to prompt effectively, how to identify risk, how to stay within your professional obligations, and how to integrate AI into real legal workflows.
Can The AI Bar build something specific to our firm?
Yes. The AI Bar works with law firms to develop customised modules tailored to their practice areas, workflows, and jurisdictions. If your firm uses specific tools, handles particular types of matters, or operates across multiple jurisdictions, the training can reflect that. A generic AI course built for a general audience will not do the same job as one built around how your team actually works. Get in touch via the contact page to discuss what that could look like for your firm.
The Modules
What does a module cover?
Each module is built around a specific area of legal AI practice such as AI foundations, safe prompting, document review, or research workflows. Every module includes practical worked examples drawn from real practice contexts, so you can apply what you learn immediately. The AI Bar is also building a series of practice area modules covering how AI can be used across specific areas of legal work including arbitration, commercial litigation, contract drafting and review, employment law, and more. Each practice area module will be built around the tasks, documents, and workflows that practitioners in that area actually handle.
How long does each module take?
Modules are designed to be completed in short sittings. Most lawyers complete a module across two or three sessions. You set the pace.
Will the content be updated as AI develops?
Yes. AI in legal practice is a fast-moving area. Modules and resources are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect regulatory developments, new tools, and changes in professional guidance.
How do I access the modules?
Modules can be purchased directly from The AI Bar website. Once enrolled, you can access your content on demand, at any time, from any device.
Jurisdiction and Compliance
Which jurisdictions does The AI Bar cover?
The AI Bar is built for common law practitioners, with specific content addressing the regulatory frameworks applicable to lawyers in the UK and India. Where frameworks differ between jurisdictions, we say so clearly.
Does using AI in legal practice raise regulatory concerns?
It can — and this is precisely why education matters. Your existing professional obligations around confidentiality, competence, and supervision apply fully to AI use. The AI Bar addresses these obligations directly, including what the SRA, BCI, and other regulators have said — and what they have not yet said.
Can I use AI tools with client information?
This depends on the tool, the information, and your jurisdiction's data protection framework. The AI Bar covers data hygiene for legal practice in detail, including what counts as confidential information, how to anonymise prompts, and what your obligations are under UK GDPR and India's DPDP Act 2023.
